So now that I’m officially a ‘blogger’ I would like to share with you why I’m here. Well…first of all it’s to share with you my artwork and the message that comes with it. Also to share a little bit about who I am.
I thought I would start with this painting which was inspired by the old ruins from the former English settlement of Hampton near Burra, South Australia. I’ve always loved old stone buildings, and for some reason, when I see the old ruins I want to know who used to reside there and what their life was like.
As I walk through each room I look at the remnants that give a hint of how they lived. I see the opening that used to be where they cooked their meals and I wonder how they coped in the summer heat. I would like to know what kind of food they ate, how many people dined there, and how many family members lived in such a small home. I wonder where they came from and were they went.
Not a lot has been written about this old town. I am just glad that this historical area has been preserved so that we can know that it was once there.
